Kimberly Bernadette Jonker, lovingly known as Kimmy or Ms. Kim to her students, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 11, 2025, at her home in Littelton, Colorado. Born on March 19, 1963, in New York, Kimberly's journey through life touched the hearts of many. She grew up in New York, where her nurturing spirit and artistic talents began to flourish.

Kimmy's education led her to Pace University in Buffalo, New York, where she earned a bachelor's degree specializing in Scientific Illustrations. She worked various jobs in her youth, including IBM in New York, before finding her fulfilling career as a paraprofessional with Denver Public Schools for 18 years. Throughout her time in this role, she dedicated herself to preparing her students for the next steps in their lives, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to be in her care.

Kimberly's artistic talents shone brightly; she was a phenomenal drawer and painter, and her creativity extended to making beautiful jewelry. She had a deep love for the outdoors, often reminiscing about spending cherished moments in nature as a youth, enjoying the woods and the serenity they provided. Her appreciation for life was reflected in her adoration for road trips, particularly those that took her to from the Colorado Mountains to Arizona to witness the breathtaking Grand Canyon.

Known for her strong-willed nature, great sense of humor, and fun-loving spirit, Kimberly was truly a nurturing and caring person. She was a homebody who found joy in the simple desires of life—loving those around her. Kimmy's friendships and family bonds were deeply cherished; she came into Doug's life at just the right moment, providing him with a love that was both profound and unwavering.

She traveled to Michigan to visit Doug's family, who embraced her as one of their own. They also made trips to New York so Doug could see where Kimmy grew up, enriching their love with shared experiences and memories. Together with her husband Doug and their beloved dogs, she loved hiking in the mountains, which showcased her love for both adventure and the great outdoors.

Kimberly is survived by her loving husband, Doug Jonker, her brothers and her nieces and nephews, Audra, Alecia, Ian and Robbie. She was preceded in death by her parents, who undoubtedly have welcomed her with open arms.

Her legacy will be honored at a funeral service at Amazing Grace Church in Englewood, Colorado, on November 21, 2025, beginning at 10:30 AM, followed by burial at Seven Stones - Chatfield in Littleton, Colorado, at 1:00 PM.
