Kimberly A. Schnell Mitchell 67, of Naples, Florida and Minster, Ohio passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024, at her Ohio residence.
She was born in Lima, Ohio on January 21, 1957, the daughter of Janet L. (Lenhart) Schnell of Jackson Center, OH and Paul Schnell of Wapakoneta, Ohio.
Kim was a 1975 graduate of Wapakoneta High School and a 1979 graduate of The Ohio State University where she was a 4-year varsity diver. Upon graduating college, Kim headed to California to pursue her career in education as a teacher. Her passion for diving took her into coaching. She led both high school and college diving teams to championships.
Upon moving back to Ohio, Kim met the love of her life, Donnie Mitchell Sr. They married in 1997 and together started JD Export. The dynamic duo built a globally successful business providing many countries with high quality refurbished farm equipment. She was very proud of how their efforts dramatically improved these farms’ efficiency.
They enjoyed farming in Dalhart, Texas. Kim was no stranger to hard work and could drive a combine with the best of them. She would often get mistaken as someone working the event instead of hosting it, as she was busy bussing tables and working in her kitchen. Kim and Don were inseparable in their endeavors and with their generosity to others.
They found their beloved Isles of Capri in Naples Florida and proudly built their beautiful home that welcomed family, friends and events frequently. Isles of Capri Mitchells helped people and youngsters in need throughout the community. Her home in FL was always open to families on the Isles after every hurricane. You could always count on Kim for great ideas, support and hard work in all she did.
An unwavering Trump supporter, Kim helped many local, state & federal Republican officials and candidates by attending and personally hosting over 30 events in Florida and Ohio. Her favorite event for 6 years running was the Annual Ben Allen Country Concert on Isles of Capri. Her most notable event was the Trump Flotilla in 2020 with 1000 boats motoring from Naples to Marco Island right by her house.
Kim enjoyed watching most sports, especially her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes and still played a winning game of golf. She was a member of JW Marriott Members Golf & Resort Club on Marco Island, Fiddlers Creek Club in Naples and the Mercer County Elks Club in Ohio. She was a member of the Capri Christian Church on Isles of Capri, FL, Founding President of the Right Club of South Collier County (www.rcscc.us), founding officer of the Collier County Citizen Values Political Action Committee, and Past President of the Republican Club of South Collier County. She was a member & contributor to many groups and charities.
Kim is preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Mitchell Sr, and her mother, Janet L. (Lenhart) Schnell.
She is survived by her father Paul Schnell, Wapakoneta, OH, brother, Chuck (Rosalinda) Schnell of Hilliard, OH, nephew Paul (Amy) Schnell of Delaware, OH, niece, Sara Schnell of Naples, FL, two step sons, Jeffrey D. (Karla) Mitchell, Don K. (Melissa) Mitchell Jr all of Plain City, OH, five step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren, her Uncle John (Sharon) Lenhart of Jackson Center, OH and beloved dog Izzie.
Pastor Sylvia Hull will officiate a graveside service on Tuesday, August 27th, 2024, at 11:00AM in Mitchell Cemetery, 10200 St. Rt. 38, Marysville, Ohio 43040.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to your local charity for exploited and trafficked children in Kim’s honor.
