Calvin Kirk Dowell, 54, of Olive Branch, MS, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven, MS. Friends are invited to a visitation on Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Memorial Park South Woods (5485 Hacks Cross Road, Memphis, TN 38125). Pastor Patrick Conrad of Compel Church will officiate.
Kirk was born on December 31, 1968 in Memphis, TN. He was a member of Compel Church and worked as a Branch Manager at Service Partners. Kirk was a powerlifter and enjoyed the sport of body building. He was a member of the United States Powerlifting Association (USPA), Sunlight Power Powerlifting, and the American Powerlifting Association (APA). Through these sports, he encouraged many youths and loved teaching and working out with them in the gym. He was a Mississippi High School (MHSSA) Powerlifting Judge. Kirk also loved football and was a die-hard Ole Miss fan. He played football for the Memphis Showboats and the Canadian Football League (CFL). During his spare time, Kirk loved to cook out.
Kirk loved his children and spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed spoiling and being with his two-year-old granddaughter, Maci Lynn. Kirk married the love of his life, Jennifer, and they were together for over 16 years. You never saw one without the other. Kirk was loved by many and will be forever remember by those who knew him.
Kirk is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Lynn Dowell, of Olive Branch, MS; sons, Cody Allen Christian (Skylar Smith) of Olive Branch, Logan Christopher Christian (Makayla) of Southaven; Ashton Luke Dowell of Olive Branch; daughters, Ann Marie Barton and Ruby Beth Barton of Olive Branch; granddaughter, Maci Lynn Christian of Olive Branch; father, Paul Dowell of Byhalia; brother, Keith Dowell (Angie) of Byhalia; nieces, Colby Dowell, Cory Plumlee (Peyton), and Cody Dowell of Byhalia; nephews, Cooper Dowell and Coleman Dowell of Byhalia; his friend who was like a brother, Rickey Gammell (Regina); close cousins, Wade Dowell (Angela) of Indianola and Earl Adams of Carthage, and many loving friends and family members.
Kirk was preceded in death by his mother, Janice Motes Dowell and grandparents, Calvin and Sue Motes.
