Koay Alvin Hatch, 44, passed away on July 24th, 2025, exactly one week after his 22nd wedding anniversary with his wife. Koay was a devoted husband and father to his wife and their eight children, whom he loved dearly.
He was born on October 10th, 1980, in Mesa, Arizona, to Norece “Shorty” and Nivla Hatch. He was one of nine children and is remembered by his siblings: Shamine Wright (Mike), Titia Mann, Cody (Melanie), Yana Reidhead (Keevin), Cozette Fox (Sean), Tima Hird (Nick), Toah, and Taffy Sherwood (DJ).
Koay graduated from Gilbert High School, class of 1999. Soon after, he was called to serve as a missionary in Brazil for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Koay spoke highly of his time spent in Brazil. He spent time learning and embracing their ways and was beloved by all he met.
Early in his life, Koay had no idea that a 12-year-old girl watching him toss hay bales would one day become his soulmate. That girl was Rianne Ramsey, and years later, their paths would align in a love story for the ages. They were married on July 17, 2003 and built a beautiful life together, filled with laughter, loyalty, and deep devotion.
Koay’s love for Rianne was fierce and unwavering—he never hesitated to show it. In 2005, they began their family with Brightn (20), followed by Brax (18), Olley (15), Oakley (14), Hank (9), Hallie (6), Hayes (6), and their youngest, Rush (3). A proud husband and father, Koay was the rock of his family, leaving behind a legacy of love that will endure through them.
Koay was the life of the party—witty, quick with a joke, and always ready to turn any phrase into a song. A true jack of all trades, he approached life with passion, humor, and heart. He loved fiercely, made everyone feel seen, and brought laughter wherever he went. Koay lived on his own time, full throttle, leaving behind a legacy of joy, boldness, and unforgettable moments.
A Memorial Service will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, August 2nd, 2025 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7361 S Constellation Way, Gilbert, AZ 85298. A Visitation will be prior to the service, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
