Kris Cunningham Anthes (68), of Richmond, Virgina went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 29th, 2024. He left this world peacefully surrounded by his family.
Kris was born on June 25, 1956, in Richmond, Virginia to Dorothy and Howard Anthes. Kris is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Katherine Shiflett Anthes, his children: Sarah Borges (David) and Robert (Whit) Anthes (Maggie), four grandchildren: Blake Borges, Mark Borges, Ansley Anthes, and Caroline Anthes in addition to his three brothers, Wayne Anthes, Scott Anthes, and Glenn Anthes.
Kris was preceded in death by his father Howard John Anthes, Mother Dorothy Freeman Anthes, and sister in-law Linda Anthes.
Kris devoted his career to Dominion Landscape Inc. which he established in 1988, after completing dual degrees in Landscape Architecture and Agriculture at Mississippi State University. His designs can still be found today throughout Richmond, Henrico, and Goochland counties. Kris was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved spending time with family and friends in the field, on the water, or around a fire. Kris could often be found at Brookview Farm repairing his favorite old tractor, caring for the land, planting fruit trees, or sitting on the front porch watching the wildlife. Kris was known for his warm personality, calm demeanor, and stoic patience. Kris leaves behind a legacy of strong work ethics, dedication to family, and the belief that no matter what, we will all “be alright” after his passing.
A visitation will be held Sunday, October 6th, 2024, between the hours of 2:00pm to 4:00pm at Normans Funeral Chapel, 2982 River Road West, Goochland, Virginia. A Graveside service will be held 2:00pm, Monday, October 7, 2024, at Lyles Cemetery. 92 Lyles Church Lane, Palmyra, Virginia.
