Kris Richard Flodin, age 57, of Rochester, Minnesota passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 due to complications from an acute illness.
Kris was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on November 19th, 1965 to Richard and Maxine (Knowlton) Flodin. Kris grew up in Stewartville, Minnesota, graduating from Stewartville High School in 1984. A few years later, he joined the management team at Econofoods in Rochester. He was transferred to their Aberdeen, South Dakota store around 1990. In 1994, he moved to Minneapolis and began a career in catering. Kris was married in 1998, and in 2004, he and his family moved to Des Moines, Iowa. There he started a new career managing mechanic shops. Kris remained in Iowa until 2016 when he moved back to the Rochester metro. In his free time, Kris enjoyed fishing, football, Nascar, and listening to music. He was a phenomenal chef and an avid supporter of local animal rescue organizations.
He is survived by his mother, Maxine Van De Walker; siblings Kim Flodin (Kevin Ball), Kari Flodin (Jack Kulseth), Jennifer (Bill) Gardner, Erin (Van) Beach, Matthew Van De Walker, and Skye (Thomas) Dunn; his children, Nicholas Flodin (Alexandra May), Samantha Flodin, and Olivia Flodin (Kurtis Randall); his two grandchildren, Eleanora Flodin and Everest Randall, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Kris was preceded in death by his father, Richard, stepfather, Larry, and brother-in-law, Jack.
Celebration of life plans are still being finalized. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to Paws and Claws Humane Society and to Camp Companion in Rochester, MN, two animal rescue organizations Kris was passionate about.
