Kris Vekich Obituary

Kristi "Kris" Vera Vekich, 63 of Hermantown, passed away on September 7, 2023 surrounded by her family. Kristi was born on September 16th 1959 to Leroy and Vera Trethewey in Crystal Minnesota.
Kris graduated from Hermantown High School in 1978. She married her favorite travel buddy Joseph Vekich on August 20, 1987. Kris went on to earn her RN degree in 1997 and worked most recently at Hilltop Health Care. Kris was a very well respected and compassionate nurse with a great sense of humor. Kris and Joe raised three children. Kris loved being a mom, but her favorite role was being "Bamma" to her 5 grandchildren. She was their biggest cheerleader and best friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Frankie Jednek, brother, Fred Trethewey and brother in law Ben Larson and her favorite grand pup and favorite soccer buddy Flint.
She is survived by her husband Joseph Vekich, daughter Danielle (Lucas) Lane, sons Joe (Chelsea) Vekich, Tyler (Cerissa) Vekich, and her youngest boy Duncan (the cat), sister, Leah Larson, brother, David Trethewey, brother in law, Randy Jednek, as well as her nieces and nephews, and her pride and joy her grandchildren; Liam and Mason Lane, Vincent, Landen and Emily Vekich.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dan her nurse from St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care he showed Kris and going the extra mile to help us cope with her passing. The family will have a private service at a later date per Kris's request.
