Krista L. Hackett, 64 of North Sioux City, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Visitation will begin at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Krista was born the daughter of Lowell and Christina (Nason) Steeg on July 12, 1959 in Sioux City, Iowa. She graduated from Jefferson High School in Jefferson, South Dakota. Krista married Robert “Bob” Hackett on July 7, 1979. They made their home in North Sioux City.

Krista was always a very hard worker, taking pride in what she was doing. After being a stay-at-home mom when their kids were younger, she went to work for Gateway. At Gateway she held several different positions, working her way up the ladder and ending her time there in the payroll department.  As luck would have it her youngest grandson entered the world early on her birthday in 2008. She decided to help babysit him for a few years because he was such a little guy. She later returned to work at Lincare where she was employed until the time of her passing.

Krista was a very creative person. She enjoyed doing crafts. Most recently she found diamond art, making several of them for herself, grandkids, and family.  She also enjoyed making keepsakes for family and friends whether it was an ornament for their Christmas tree or a wreath for your door, it was truly how she showed her love. Krista could also be found in her kitchen cooking up a storm. She made all sorts of things, from a bread recipe that has been passed down through generations, to the comfort food that soothed your soul.

Krista and Bob loved to travel to visit family. They traveled often with family exploring the Black Hills of South Dakota and later to Arkansas where her brother and his wife retired. She cherished these wonderful memories she made with her family as it was always a great time.

Krista had two grandchildren she loved to spoil. If they ever needed anything, grandma was their person. From a great meal to their favorite snack, to an ear to listen to their struggles, she was always there. They will cherish her memory forever. Krista was very loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Krista is survived by her husband Bob of North Sioux City; children, Jennifer Hackett of Sioux City and Joshua Hackett of North Sioux City; siblings, Dorothy (Dean) Cox, Doreen Johnson, Lola Kerr, Lowell “Tubby” (Kathy) Steeg, and Shelly Lucart; and grandsons, Austin and Leland.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers-in-law, Dave and Jim.
