Kristin Deneen Martin was born on September 2, 1969, in Midland, Texas, to Jon and Alicia Martin. She departed this life on Sunday, December 7, 2025, to be with her Heavenly Father.
Among Kristin’s favorite passages from God’s Word, Psalm 121 was one of her treasures: “I lift up my eyes to the mountains – where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip – He who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you – the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm – He will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.”
Kristin was a lifetime resident of Lea County and served as a special needs teacher for over 30 years in Hobbs, New Mexico. An example of her devotion to children was demonstrated recently by one of her young students. He told his mother that he had to get back to school to see about Ms. Martin, who had been out with an extended illness. Visiting the county fair with Kristin was quite an adventure, as her students flocked to see and greet her outside of school.
In addition to her devotion to her students, Kristin’s other interests included her love for her church, Taylor Memorial Baptist Church, her cozy cottage home, her beloved pet Raider, and cooking. Kristin readily shared her culinary talents with others. She also enjoyed sports and the lively banter and commentary with others while watching games. Her quick wit made her a joyful, fun addition to any gathering of family and friends. One of Kristin’s simple pleasures was to enjoy a drink from Sonic and what she called “tooling with mom” to see new and decorated homes and yards.
Kristin is survived by her mother, Alicia Martin; her brother, Andrew Martin; her niece Makenzie and grandniece Addison; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Services will be held at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church, 1700 East Yeso, Hobbs, NM, at 1:00pm on Thursday, December 11.
