Krystal Kay Hodge, age 37 of Dayton, Ohio, went to her heavenly home on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Miami Valley Hospital after a short illness. On April 25, 1984, she was born in Marion, Ohio, to Edgar (Bud) Layne, Jr., and Barbara (Mullins) Hodge.
Krystal worked for Creative Foam.
She is survived by her fur babies Tiffany and T.K. whom her nieces have lovingly adopted; her parents Bud and Jennifer (McKinniss) Layne Jr. of Marion, Ohio; her mother Barbara (Mullins) and Robert Hodge Sr. of Harriman, Tennessee; her brothers Charles Layne of Marion, Ohio, Shane Layne of Columbus, Ohio, Robert Hodge Jr.(Pamela Edwards) of London, Ohio, and Tyler Layne (Chandra Griffith) of Marion, Ohio; and her sisters Samantha Layne (Simon Moriarty) of Rockwood, Tennessee, Tiffany Layne of Marion, Ohio, and Heather Layne of Marion, Ohio; her grandparents Edgar and Sue Layne, Sr. of Marion, Ohio, Jeanette and James Gray of Marion, Ohio, Pat Mullins of Marion, Ohio, Cathy McKinniss of Marion, Ohio, and Ted and Kathy McKinniss of Marion, Ohio; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister Sarah Page, her grandfathers Hercel Mullins and Earl Bill Hodge, grandmothers Joyce Ann DiScioscia and Helen Ledley, and uncles Lowell Mullins and Clifford Miniard.
Krystal loved everything about nature, even the tiniest little bugs. Her favorite activities included fishing, golfing, and shooting. She could have won many awards for her beautiful photography and those nearby were always pulled close for a selfie. She was always going on adventures with her "kids", which included her beloved nieces and nephews. When she wasn't on an adventure, she was up to some sort of shenanigans or trickery. Her one-of-a-kind laughter was contagious and could fill a room in an instant. Krystal knew no strangers and touched many lives with her joyful nature. She will be dearly missed by so many.
Friends and family may come to honor Krystal's life on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Shield of Faith Christian Center, 404 N. Greenwood St., Marion, and on Thursday, March 17, 2022 from 11 am to 12 pm. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 12 pm with Pastor Edgar Layne Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with the costs of funeral expenses. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.boydfuneralmarion.com. The Boyd Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Hodge and Layne family.
