Kurt J. Wagner, age 71, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 1, 2023, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. He enjoyed the view of his lake until his last day.
Kurt was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on May 26, 1951. He excelled at sports and played football and basketball for Kenosha Tremper Highschool. In 1968, his family moved to Neenah, Wisconsin and he graduated from Neenah Highschool in 1969. After graduation, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point.
He met his bride Linda, and they were married in 1972. They celebrated 50 years of marriage together. Kurt and Linda raised three daughters in Neenah. As a family, they enjoyed spending time together at their cottage in Northern Wisconsin.
Kurt worked for WE Energies as a Distribution Supervisor until he and his family relocated to Conover, Wisconsin in 1999. Here, Kurt started Northern Exposure Caretaking so that they could live and work in the Northwoods where they had always loved to vacation.
He was an avid sportsman and lived for every fishing and hunting season. He was most fond of the annual hunting trip to South Dakota with close friends and family.
Kurt was survived by his wife Linda (Ziebell) Wagner, his sister Sandra (Wagner) Gubbels of Appleton, three daughters and sons-in-law Laurie (Tony) Rutkowski, Becky (Ben) Rothering, Tracy (Brian) Zietlow, and nine wonderful grandchildren: Sam, Will, Nora and Lucy Rutkowski; Henry, Hazel and Wyatt Rothering, and Vella and Marshall Zietlow.
He was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Lois Wagner and his brother-in-law Paul Gubbels.
A private celebration of his life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
The family would like to thank Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home in Eagle River for caring for the family. They would also like to thank Kurt's hospice caregivers from Compassus Hospice whose kind and compassionate care allowed Kurt to spend the end of his life in comfort, peace, and in his home surrounded by those he loved.
