Kurt Whitley Obituary
Kurt was a lifelong learner with a deep curiosity about the world. He earned a master's degree in engineering from Clemson University and worked as an engineer in various industries as well as a professor of engineering at Western Carolina University.
Above all, he was a devoted and loving father. Kurt had a passion for music and was a talented saxophone player in Roswell New Horizons Band and Cobb New Horizons Jazz Ensemble. He also found joy in woodworking, travel, and sharing music with others.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Whitley, and his mother, Marilyn Whitley.
Kurt is survived by his daughter, Eva Whitley, and his brothers, Mike Whitley and Pete Whitley.
A celebration of life will be held on January 3rd at Lakeside Funeral Home in Woodstock, with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m.
Kurt will be remembered for his kindness, curiosity, and the music he brought into the lives of those who knew and loved him

As a fellow member of the New Horions Jazz Ensemble, he was loved and respected for his skills and friendship. He will be missed.

Kurt was a great player who loved music. Even though I met him a short time ago I enjoyed his great personality and wit. He will be sorely missed.
