Kyle Goodman Boyer, aged 63, passed away surrounded by her family on January 31, 2025.
She was born in Boise, ID to Carol Ann Huston Goodman and the late Ralph Edward Goodman on July 25, 1961. Kyle was raised in Wilmington, DE and graduated from John Dickinson High School in 1979. She graduated with degrees in political science and history from the University of Delaware in 1983.
Kyle was a devoted mother who focused much of her time on her daughter, her two sons, and her six grandchildren. She also found great fulfillment in volunteer work, supporting a variety of causes throughout Wilmington, including delivering meals to homebound seniors through Meals on Wheels. Her rich intellectual life was important to her, reflected in her personal library of over a thousand books, and she was known for engaging in thoughtful wide-ranging conversations on nearly any topic. She was a certified Master Gardener and dedicated years to cultivating the gardens at her own homes and volunteering at the Winterthur gardens. Animals held a special place in her heart, and she treasured the companionship of the family's beloved cats and dogs. She delighted in traveling-especially to the Delaware beaches-and had recently begun visiting National Parks with her grandchildren, sharing her adventurous spirit with the next generation.
She is survived by her loving husband, Michael Boyer; her daughter, Julia Rogers (Rob); her sons, Daniel Roth (Dianna) and John Boyer; her mother, Carol Goodman; her sister, Joyce Fournakis; and her grandchildren, Vivian Roth, Max Rogers, Charlie Roth, Lucy Rogers, Maya Rogers, and Teddy Roth.
She was also particularly close with her in-laws, George and Marge Boyer; her niece, Ellie McCullough (Kyle); her nephew, Andrew Fournakis (Nicole); her brother-in-law, John Fournakis; and her great-nieces and nephews, Chloe Fournakis, Kendall McCullough, Cameron McCullough, and Madison Fournakis– all of whom called her "Granny" as well.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital intensive care unit for their kindness, support, and the tireless effort.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with funeral services beginning at 12:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Brandywine Valley SPCA or Meals on Wheels Delaware.
