Kylea Castaneda

Kylea Lauren Castaneda, 35, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Born the daughter of Jose and Melisa (Leonard) Castaneda on May 24, 1989, in Wichita, KS, Kylea was a lifelong resident of Wellington. She was a beacon of love and joy whose life was characterized by her spirited nature, creative flair, and unwavering reliability and dedication to her family.
Kylea had a knack for making any room feel like home, a testament to her creative spirit and nurturing demeanor. She found solace in simple pleasures like long baths and cherished the thrill of shopping for shoes and clothes. A big hockey enthusiast, she passionately supported her son in the sport, their shared love for the game forging an unbreakable bond. Traveling was another of Kylea's passions, with cruises being her preferred mode of adventure. A memorable journey to Alaska stood out as a favorite, embodying her adventurous spirit. Her collections of hummingbirds and gnomes were a testament to her unique tastes and love for the whimsical. Kylea was at ease around people and this served her well during the several years she worked with clients at Professional Body Works in Wellington.
Kylea is survived by her beloved son, Kyler Glazier of Wellington, KS; her loving parents, Jose and Melisa Castaneda of Wellington, KS; three brothers, Andy Castaneda and wife Kelsey of Ft. Cavazos, TX, Mike Castaneda and wife Lindsay of Wellington, KS, Kaleb Castaneda and Tiana Hanson of Derby, KS; her grandmother, Teresa Castaneda and grandparents, Jerry and Caroline Leonard all of Wellington, KS along with her much loved niece, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandfather, Secundino Castaneda. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will be kept alive by all who loved her.
A visitation with Kylea's family will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Cornejo Funeral Home, Wellington, KS.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will be immediately followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025 in St. Anthony St. Rose Catholic Church, Wellington, KS. A livestream of her service will be available on the church's YouTube page. Interment will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens, Wellington, KS.
A memorial fund has been established to support her son. Contributions can be given to the Kyler Glazier Memorial Fund, c/o Impact Bank and can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
