Rev. L.C. Davis, 86, a well-known resident of the Red Bud Community, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, October 26, 2025, while surrounded by his loving family.
L.C. was a lifelong resident of Gordon County. He was born January 28, 1939, son of the late William (Clyde) Davis and Clara Christine Smith Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Jerry Davis, Johnny Davis and his wife Hilda, Lamar Davis, Junior Davis and his wife Thelma, and Ray Davis; three sisters, Norma Jean Stone and her husband Elmer, Fay Addy and her husband J.D, and Betty Davis.
L.C. was an ordained minister of the Gospel for 56 years. He had a heart for the lost. Throughout his ministry, he helped bring many lost souls to the Lord.
Two of his favorite scriptures are:
1 John b. Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
2 Corinthians 5:8 b. To be absent from this body is to be present with the Lord.
L. C. loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and mostly enjoyed being with his family, whom he loved dearly. Before he retired, he was a farmer and was associated with Hunt Farms for many years. He loved to till the soil, plant the seed, and watch God make it grow until the time for harvest.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Odessa Davis; two daughters, Angie Bailey and her husband Darren, Pam Stanley and her husband Atnas; one son, Greg Davis; sisters, Nina Bailey and her husband Dale, Joyce Kirby and her husband Ricky; grandchildren, Justin Bailey, Summer Self (Cody), Kaitlyn Gibson (Ben), Bradley Stanley (Ashlee); great-grandchildren, Mason Self, Grayson Gibson, Hudson Gibson, Lillian Stanley, Penelope Stanley; several nieces and nephews survive.
The family would like to honor and give special thanks to his niece, Susie Grizzle, for helping take care of him for the past few months and also to his caregiver, Diane Taylor.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 1:00 PM from Crane Eater Community Church with Pastor Paul Gay and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. A eulogy will be given by Drew Kirby, Pastor Paul Gay will be in charge of the graveside service. Music will be arranged by Donna Gay. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Justin Bailey, Bradley Stanley, Brian Davis (Ears), Elbert Jackson, Lamar Thomas, Jeff Davis (Whitey), Mason Self, and Grayson Gibson. Honorary pallbearers are Dennis Childers, Clifton Smith, Michael Stone, Will Smithy, and Stacy Hunt.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 28th, at Crane Eater Community Church from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
