L. Gordon Booth Obituary

Visit the Rochester Cremation - Henrietta website to view the full obituary.

L. Gordon “Gordie” Booth of Pittsford, NY passed away peacefully in his home on November 17, 2025, at the age of 80.

Gordie is survived by his son, Kristian (Tracy) Booth; daughter, Jennifer Booth Carlson; grandchildren Jacob, Haleigh, Benjamin, Grace, and Lillian; sister Jackie Holdren; and nieces Kelly Polizzi and Kara Holdren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of nearly fifty years, Susan Booth.

Gordie earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University, completed his MBA at the University of Michigan, and later earned his Master’s in Teaching from SUNY Brockport.

He proudly served in the United States Army from 1968 until his honorable discharge in 1974, achieving the rank of Specialist 5 (E-5) with an Expert Rifle qualification and serving in high-trust technical roles.

Gordie spent 30 wonderful years at Eastman Kodak Company, building lasting friendships and creating meaningful experiences with his family, including time spent living in Europe. After taking early retirement, he returned to what he loved most—teaching. He taught 7th and 8th grade math and physics at Barker Road Middle School for 11 years and often said he taught not because he needed to, but because he wanted to be there. He had a gift for making any subject engaging, and students loved the days he stepped into their classrooms.

Gordie was a man of quiet strength and steady presence. A single look from him said more than raised voices ever could. He lived with deep loyalty, put his family first, and was the one others turned to in difficult moments. There was no problem he couldn’t solve and nothing he couldn’t fix. He cherished time with his family, especially his grandchildren, sharing his love of the outdoors with them. He loved skiing, sailing, and spending time on Canandaigua Lake—one of his happiest and most peaceful places.

Gordie was generous in every way that mattered—loyal, warm-spirited, and quietly funny. He loved his wife Susan dearly, cherished his children and grandchildren, and remained close to his sister, nieces, cousins, and lifelong friends. He always made time for the people he loved and always put others first.

The Booth family extends heartfelt thanks to Michelle Lezo and her dedicated care team—Tom, Felicia, Shanice, Dallas, Ebony, and Adrienne—for their devoted support throughout his final years, ensuring Gordie received the dignity and compassion he deserved. To all caregivers not listed, your kindness and care will never be forgotten.

A service honoring Gordie will be held at Whitehaven Memorial Park, 210 Marsh Road, on Friday, December 19th at 11:00 AM, with a gathering and refreshments to follow.
