Mr. L. D. McCann, age 83, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the State Veterans Home in Kosciusko, MS. His visitation will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024, from 1:00 PM until 1:45 PM at Wolf Funeral Services in Lake, MS. His services will take place at 2:00 PM in our funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Pine Ridge Baptist Cemetery in Lawrence, MS. Bro. Steve Robinson will officiate under the direction of Wolf Funeral Services.
Mr. McCann was born to Walter Edgar McCann and Lena Dolly Hammons on March 15, 1941, in Newton County, MS. He was a lifelong resident of Lake, MS. Mr. McCann was a member of Sandridge Baptist Church in Lake, MS. He served his country in the Army and Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Mr. McCann was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, gardening, farming, and training Beagles to hunt. He loved his family and his God.
Mr. McCann was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Jean McCann; his parents, Walter and Lena McCann; one sister, Sarah McCann Wade; and one brother, Walter Lee McCann. He is survived by his wife, Katie McCann of Newton, MS; his two daughters, Tammie Thorne (Randy) of Lake, MS and Teresa Myatt (Ray) of Lake, MS; his two sons, Sidney Poole (Rekha) of Walnut Grove, MS and Billy Joe Poole of Lake, MS; his two step-daughters, Nancy Roncali (Robert) of Newton, MS and Kay Watkins of Forest, MS; his step-son, Wayne Stewart (Illene) of Greers Ferry, AR; his thirteen grandchildren, his seventeen great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
