Bud passed away in Pensacola, Florida, Sunday, December 28, 2025, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Huttig, Arkansas on March 8, 1938, to John and Ruby Womack.
Bud retired from General Motors in Monroe, Louisiana, after 25 years of loyal service. Bud was a well-known gunsmith, owner of Bud's Gun Shop, to many people including law enforcement, from making bullets to repairing and refurbishing guns. One of the great joys of his life was being a cowboy. He was a member of Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) and his friends know him as Palmetto Slim.
Bud is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Lee Womack, who passed in September 2025; and grandson, Zachary Womack, passed April 2025. Nancy and Bud were married 71 years. Zachary was Bud's partner in the shop. They could build anything together and spent many hours working together.
Bud is survived by his son, Mark Alan Womack and wife Stephannie; his sister, Dewanna Orbeck; his brother, Lamar Womack: granddaughter, Somer Porter; 4 great grandchildren; as well as cherished aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
