Lacey Bingham Obituary

Lacey Elisabeth Bingham

Lacey Elisabeth Bingham, age 60, died in a car accident in Colorado on November 19, 2023. She is survived by her partner Ruben Muller; brother Bryan Bingham (wife Patricia); sisters Shannon Bingham and Leigh Bingham (husband Chris); and nieces Shelby Workman, Reid Colton, Alice Bingham, and Ivy Bingham. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Felton Wells Bingham and Eddine Lawson Bingham.

Lacey was a resident of Albuquerque. She attended Chelwood Elementary, Kennedy Middle, and Manzano High Schools. She completed a BFA in Theater Arts with an English minor with a full scholarship at UNM, followed by a BA at the College of Santa Fe in Elementary Education and an MALA in Liberal Arts from St. John's College.

Lacey's love for performing was fostered in high school where she lettered in theater and became a lifetime Thespian of Troupe 286. She appeared on local television and stages big and small throughout Albuquerque and the surrounding areas including Albuquerque Little Theatre, Adobe Theatre, Aux Dog Theatre, Engine House Theater, Experimental Theatre, KiMo Theatre, North Fourth Art Center, Santa Fe Playhouse, and Wildlife West Nature Park Bean Barn.

Lacey was more than an accomplished actor and singer. She was a force behind the scenes as well as a playwright, director, stage manager, and filmmaker. Her contribution to the local theater community included serving on the board of Sandia Performing Arts Company as treasurer.

In recent years Lacey was represented by Phirgun Mair Worldwide, and her presence continued to expand in commercials, television, and film as well as into print ads and video games. It is a delight to her friends and family that a generation of Albuquerqueans will remember her as the dancing grandma in the Jeebs and Zuzu commercial.

Lacey was also proud of her years teaching public school in Belen, Jemez Valley, and Albuquerque, where she especially enjoyed producing annual talent shows, monthly assemblies, and other creative performances for children ages kindergarten through 8th grade.

Albuquerque, and New Mexico in general, were where Lacey's heart truly lived. She loved traveling around the state and taking photographs of what she discovered. She was particularly fascinated by capturing images of the quirks and oddities of human creation. A person who was curious about the universe, she found ways to explore it by studying literature and spiritual teachings, and she was not immune to the pleasures of popular culture. We will always miss Lacey's sharp wit, remarkable creativity, and vibrant personality. She was beautiful, a true redhead who enlivened every conversation. She was the inspiration of Ruben's life.

Theater was Lacey's passion. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a community theater of your choice.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at FRENCH - Lomas. A private burial will follow.
