HENDERSONVILLE, NC - Lacy Garrett Fields, Jr., born on August 24, 1963, in
Laurinburg, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly after a short illness on January 4, 2026, in
Hendersonville, North Carolina at the age of 62.
Lacy was a man whose heart belonged to the mountains, even though he spent much of his life in the city. Born and raised in Laurinburg, he made his way to the mountains as soon as he could, embracing the spirit of a true Mountain Man. Despite living in the city, he embodied the essence of country life, finding joy and solace in the natural beauty that surrounded him.
He worked with dedication as a tire changer and automotive mechanic for Gosnell Used Parts, where his skills and work ethic were deeply appreciated. Lacy's love for animals, especially his beloved canine companion, Monkey, was well known among his family and friends. His warmth and friendly nature meant that he never met a stranger, and he cultivated friendships far and wide.
Lacy was preceded in death by his parents, Martha and Lacy Fields, Sr. He is survived by his devoted wife of forty-three years, Lisa Fields, and their loving daughters: Erin Fields and husband Jeremy; Melody Eggert and husband Jeremy; and Samantha Fields and husband Phillip. His sister Victoria Black and husband Mike will also deeply miss Lacy. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Kourtney, Kaylie, Alex, Gunnar, Pinky, Elijah, and Mathias, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service to honor Lacy's life will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Shuler Funeral Home,125 Orr's Camp Road,
