Lacy Anderson McDaniel
March 12, 1935 – December 25, 2024
Archer Lodge – Lacy Anderson McDaniel, 89, of Archer Lodge, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Riceville, Virginia, on March 12, 1935, to the late George McDaniel and Ethel Rodgers McDaniel.
Lacy was a man of many passions. His love for baseball was unmatched, especially his admiration for the New York Yankees. As a young man, he played in the minor leagues and nearly made it to the big leagues, a testament to his talent and dedication to the game. Beyond the field, Lacy made his mark as a hardworking salesman with Wilson Meat Company for many years before transitioning to a career with the Sheriff's Department, where he proudly served as a Sheriff's Deputy.
A traditional country boy through and through, Lacy found joy in the simple things-hunting, fishing, and farming. His home garden was his pride and joy, and he took great satisfaction in the fruits of his labor, a reflection of his hard work and love for the land.
Lacy is survived by his daughter, Teresa Purvis; grandchildren, Shelley Turnage, Jonathan McDaniel, and Mindy Clay; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marion McDaniel; his son, Lacy McDaniel, Jr.; and his granddaughter, Shannon Cousins.
Arrangements are with Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory, 211 W. Third St., Wendell. www.stricklandfuneral.com
