Raymond Eibel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory - Wendell on Feb. 2, 2026.
WENDELL – Raymond John Eibel, Jr., 72, transitioned peacefully on Wednesday, January 28, 2026. He was born in Philadelphia, PA to Raymond John, Sr. & Rosemary Gorman Eibel. Raymond dedicated 19 years of his life to law enforcement as an officer within the Philadelphia Police Department (PPD). Raymond demonstrated exceptional courage, professionalism, and compassion in every aspect of his work. His partnership with K9 dog "Shep" stood as a true example of trust, teamwork, and mutual respect – together they worked tirelessly to keep the Philadelphia community safe. After leaving the police force, Raymond dabbled in bartending and real estate until he found his new calling as Director of New Business Development at Educational Data Systems, Inc. (EDSI). He spent over 25 years creating and selling people advancing programs to court systems, schools and organizations that helped hundreds of thousands of people. Raymond had a passion for helping people that were often overlooked by society due to economic and educational difficulties disparities. He primarily focused on Non-Custodial Parent and Ex-Offender Employment Programs.

In his personal time, Raymond was an avid supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies. He also appreciated a perfectly cooked steak, bourbon on the rocks and a quality cigar. Raymond was a Harry Potter fanatic and proud to be a member of the Gryffindor House. Gryffindor is one of the four houses at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, known for valuing courage, being daring and chivalrous.

Raymond took pride in being a good friend to many and was especially proud of his 50+ year friendship with his best friend Wayne Seddon.

Raymond is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Rose Mary (Malfara); his children, Kelly Umstead (Heidi) and Amy Sines; 3 grandchildren, Abby, Joel and Nash; his brother Michael Eibel (Loretta); Mother in Law, Mary Malfara and Brother in Law, Louis Malfara (partner Shannon). Raymond was proceeded in death by his parents Raymond and Rosemary, as well as his sisters Leona and Suzanne.

Visitation (followed by service) will be at 9:30 am on Friday, February 6, 2026, in the Strickland Funeral Home & Crematory Chapel. Service is to conclude at Pinecrest Memorial Park, located at 12830 Clayton Blvd., Clayton NC.
