LaDonna Guy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Henry Funeral and Cremation Services on Jun. 14, 2023.
LaDonna Margaret was a native St. Louisan, born May 24, 1947 at the old St. Louis Maternity Hospital to proud parents Alphonso and Lois Byndom. She often spoke about her happy childhood, being the eldest of her four siblings, Alphonso, Jr. Roberta, Raymond and Ethel. LaDonna was very family oriented and enjoyed time spent with her siblings and many cousins. She was affectionately known as "Big Donna".
She confessed a hope in Christ and was baptized at an early age.
LaDonna was educated in the St. Louis Parochial and Public Schools and graduated from Soldan High School in 1966. She continued her education by attending a computer training school for business, and later attended Webster University where she continued her business studies. She joined AT&T (at that time Southwestern Bell) in 1967 as a Directory Assistance Operator and had a successful career spanning 31 years with the company, retiring in 1998 as a Training Manager. LaDonna loved to travel and had the opportunity to do so as she trained AT&T employees nationwide. She was an active member of the AT&T Black Employees Union Organization. LaDonna had a strong work ethic and started working at St. Mary's hospital when she was just a junior in high school.
LaDonna met Kermit Guy (preceded her in death) and they married in 1980. Within this union, they raised three children, Kermit K., Bruce V., and Mildred M. They also had 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A lover of family and church, she was known for her delicious cooking and being the gracious chef and hostess of family dinners and gatherings. She united with the Shalom Church under the leadership of Dr. F. James Clark on October 24, 1993, and served many years at Shalom Church as a lead kitchen coordinator for repasts and other special church events. She was later named to the Mother's Board by Dr. Clark, an appointment and ministry she highly esteemed.
She leaves to remember her loving and beautiful spirit, her children, Kermit, Bruce and Mildred and her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her memory will also be cherished by her brother Alphonso Byndom Jr., sister Ethel Byndom, and her sister-in-law, Tia Adkins, as well a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends. She had a special love for her Shalom church family.
Her parents Alphonso and Lois, her sister Roberta and brother Raymond also preceded her in death.
