Lakeeta Lenette Mitchell ("Keeta") was born on July 16, 1976, in Norfolk, Virginia, to Naomi Mitchell and Keith Barksdale. Keeta was known for her warm spirit, vibrant personality, and deep love for her family and friends. She touched the lives of many with her compassion, strength, and unwavering kindness. She was loved by her family near and far. She took joy in her life and enjoyed every laugh, dance, and song with those around her. She was a devoted grandmother to her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them whenever she could. She made a point to show up for her family and friends when she could, regardless of the occasion. You could always count on her to be laughing, singing, and dancing on any occasion.

She was preceded in death by her father, Keith Barksdale, her two loving foster mothers, Thelma Boone and Kimberly Burke, and one sister, Capria Mitchell.

Keeta is lovingly survived by her three children: Christopher Mitchell, Shante Mitchell, and Brittany Mitchell; and her four cherished grandchildren: Ka' Niyah Mitchell, Haven Scott, Zora Scott, and Luxxen Scott. She also leaves behind her beloved mother, Naomi Mitchell; her brother, Keith Mitchell; and her sisters, Nekiedra Miller, Shayla Fletcher, Keyosha Wilkins, Sharene Cuffee, and Chrissa Edmonds; A host of Aunts, Uncles, Foster Sisters, Foster Brothers, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

Keeta's laugh lives on in the hearts of her family and all who were blessed to know her. Her presence in their lives was a source of joy, guidance, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
