On Sunday, July 27, 2025, our esteemed Ricardo Roosevelt Hicks passed away, leaving behind an indelible mark on our lives. He was a cherished son, brother, father, grandfather, and friend, embodying the spirit of dedication and strength throughout his life.

Born to the late Roosevelt and Shirley Hicks on July 20, 1954, in Norfolk, Virginia, Rick's legacy was a testament to his unwavering commitment to community service. A graduate of Maury High School, Rick's career took him to Norfolk General Hospital, then as a mail attendant, and subsequently, he dedicated his life to serving his community with courage and honor for three decades as a member of the Norfolk Firefighter/Paramedic Department, earning the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

Rick found joy in simple pleasures, such as playing softball, traveling to football games, and grilling for his loved ones and friends.

He is survived by his fiancée, Kaye; his four children, Ricky Church (Shemika), Kori Hicks, Kourtney Hicks, and Nicholas Lundy; seven grandchildren, Zephaniah, Zykeeya, Ricky Jr, Ray, Ryan, Riley, and Jayla; and three great-grandchildren, Zyan, Arissa, and Emir; siblings, Cleo Jenkins (Pete), Kevin Hicks (Nell), Sabrina Jemmott (Benjamin), Pamela Drew, Darlene Jones, Patricia Brown (Michael), and Reginald Hicks (Angela). He will be deeply missed by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
