LaMar J. Violet, 79 of Hanover Park, passed away peacefully Thursday January 8, 2026. He was born on August 29, 1946, in Oak Park and resided in Franklin Park, IL for 74 years.

After graduating East Leyden High School in 1964, LaMar served his country for 6 years in the Army and was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. After discharge he attended and graduated Worsham College of Mortuary Science and started his career as a Funeral Director that spanned over 3 decades. LaMar was also known for being an active member of the American Legion Post #974 where he volunteered many hours calling bingo, bartending and served as commander. 

LaMar enjoyed fishing, coaching his girls’ softball teams, camping, motorcycles and using his riding mower to cut any and all lawns in a 2-mile radius. He will be remembered for his kindness, compassion and many insightful sayings and unique humor.

LaMar J. Violet was preceded in death by his parents LaMar G. & Martha Violet, sister Marla Houtman, nephews Michael Bates, Joshua Jurkovic and niece Michelle Violet. 

He is survived by his wife Nancy of 60 years; his daughters Suzanne (Ed) Jobin, Leigh Anne Ligas (Eric Bardwell), Sherrill (Mark) Worcester. His 11 grandchildren Ryan Pescitani, Paige Boyke, Carissa Pescitani, Ian Ligas, Ashlyn Polheber, Nicholas Worcester, Courtney Haden, Harley Worcester, Christopher Worcester, Eddie Jobin, and Aaron Jobin. He had 8 great-grandchildren Jordan Fine, Derrick Roggenkamp, Jace Bedford, Ryker Pescitani, Avery Macedo, Charlotte Ligas, Isabella Macedo, and Kensie Jobin. He was a dear brother to Almar (Carol) Violet, and an uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home in Franklin Park, Il, on Friday, January 16, 2026, starting at 1pm. American Legion services, taps and folding of the flag ceremony by the U.S. Army will start at 6pm and Chaplin prayers will follow with the services concluding at 7pm.
