William Traversa, 76, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
He was born on April 18, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, to Thomas and Marie (Hanrahan) Traversa. He graduated from Leyden High School with the class of 1967. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army in Korea along the DMZ during the Vietnam War with the 2nd Infantry Division as a Military Policeman and Communications.
On August 15, 1981, he married Debbie in Carol Stream, Illinois. William retired from Oberthur Card Systems as a supervisor in December of 2008. He was known as someone who would have given the shirt off of his back. William also had a wonderful sense of humor that was quick to the punch with a good joke.
He enjoyed working on any project that came his way—known as an avid poker player and a die-hard Chicago Bears fan who rarely missed a game. Most importantly, his family meant the world to him.
He is survived by his wife Debbie of Plymouth; son Billy (Jennifer) Traversa and their daughter Brianna of Plymouth; son Matthew (Emily) Traversa of North Liberty; siblings: Lucy (George) Harris of Port Orange, FL; Pat Garbers of Plymouth; Jim Traversa of Grovertown; Betty Kelly of New Lenox, Illinois; as well as several nieces and nephews.
William is preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Willett and his brothers: Mike, Gerry and Tom Traversa.
