MITCHELL BABIARZ Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Michaels Funeral Home and Cremation Care on Jan. 25, 2026.
Mitchell John Babiarz was a resident of Schaumburg for more than 40 years.

Visitation and service will take place Tuesday, January 27, 2026. From 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Michaels Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 800 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg.

Mitchell was born February 12, 1959 in Chicago, Il and passed away January 20, 2026 in Schaumburg.

Mitchell, known to family and friends as Mitchie, grew up in River Grove, Il, attended St. Cyprian grade school and East Leyden High School, where he was a member of the football and swim teams. He earned a bachelors' degree from Rosary College in River Forest, IL and spent his career exploring his varied interests across a number of industries, most recently logistics and materials management. Mitch also had what would be described in these times as a "side hustle"- partner at High Five Racing Stables. This was his true passion; he spent much of his youth immersed in the harness racing world and embraced the culture.

Mitchie loved music of many genres, especially blues-infused classic rock; Chicago sports and "discussing" politics (sometimes loudly and raucously.) Mitch made his views known and did not equivocate. Most of all, he loved family. He never missed a gathering, big or small and could always be counted on to bring his delicious cucumber sandwiches.

Beloved brother of Kathleen Babiarz, James Babiarz and Susan Wiertel, uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell and Helen Babiarz, brother Thomas Babiarz, sister Janice Verdico and nephew Vincent Babiarz.
