Lana Rae Rice (70) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, in Chicago, IL following a long battle with cancer. Lana was born on January 11, 1947 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lane and Margaret (Pagano) Plummer. She married Granville Douglas Rice in 1965. Lana was a master hairstylist and trained with many renowned stylists including Vidal Sassoon, Frederic Fekkai, Jose Eber and Dusty Fleming. She owned several salons including Salon Tino & The Factory in Omaha, NE and Todd Michaels Salon in Palm Springs, CA. She was proceeded in death by her mother, father & son, Todd Michael Rice, and her brothers, Michael Plummer and Tom Coppi. She is survived by her brother, Ron (Bonnie) Coppi of Des Moines, IA, daughter, Lisa Avrett of Atlanta, GA, sons Grant (Kellie) Rice and Jason (Kiley) Rice of Chicago, IL, 6 granddaughters, 1 great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. Lana was a champion of many charitable organizations including: Rotary Club of Omaha and Hospice House of Omaha (Josie House Residence). Lana was a recognized singer at church and often performed at charity events. Services will held at 11:00 am, Saturday, July 11:00 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 2900 Ramon Road Palm Springs California. Interment to follow immediately at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 69855 Ramon Road, Cathedral City, CA In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Hospice House of Omaha-Josie House Residence, 7415 Cedar Street Omaha, NE 68124.

Lana ment a lot to me. I was very close to her son Todd. I was so touched to see she had made a salon in his name. My prayers go to his family i love you all and I am thankful how she and you touched my life
