It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lance Haines, a vibrant soul who left us far too soon on July 4, 2025. Born on January 8, 1973, Lance's life was a tapestry of joy, laughter, and steadfast devotion to those he held dear. Lance was a man who embraced life with open arms and a warm heart. His passions were as colorful and varied as the vintage toys he loved to collect. An aficionado of old-school hip-hop and a love for singing karaoke, Lance found happiness in the rhythm of music and the camaraderie of shared joy. Those who had the pleasure of seeing him dance or witness his renditions of Rocky Horror Picture Show songs knew his spirit was infectious and his laughter a balm for the soul. His vibrant personality was often matched by his signature style, with Lance frequently wearing his favorite Adidas gear from head to toe. A hopeless romantic, his heart belonged unequivocally to his beloved wife, Brie. Lance's devotion to her was unwavering; she was, and always will be, his "dream girl." His love was a testament to the deep connection they shared, a beacon of light that touched all who knew them. Lance was equally skilled in the kitchen, where he expressed his love through his culinary expertise. An extremely talented chef, he poured his heart into every dish, sharing his passion with family and friends. To him, cooking was love made visible, and experiencing people's genuine joy and delight as they savored his creations were his greatest reward. In moments of leisure, Lance could be found engrossed in thrift store adventures, engaging in spirited poker games, and indulging his love of game shows and trivia. His quick wit was legendary, always armed with a joke or a quip to brighten someone's day and elicit a chuckle (or a groan). Lance's ultimate goal was to make people smile, finding joy in the laughter he inspired and the happiness he spread. Lance leaves behind his wife Brie Haines; his mother, Judy Haines; his stepdaughter, Delilah Chavis; and his brother, Les Haines. He is fondly remembered by cousins, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and loved ones who were fortunate enough to be part of his journey-a journey characterized by love, humor, music, and really freaking delicious food. Lance's legacy is one of genuine kindness, passionate living, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. His spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him-reminding us that life is meant to be savored, shared, and danced to its fullest, always with a smile and a joke ready to lighten the way. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to KC Hospice House in Lance's name, honoring the compassion and care he received in his final hours. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Floral Hills Cemetery located in Raytown, MO. A celebration of Lance's life will be held at 6:00pm on August 9, 2025 at Seton Hall of St. Elizabeth's Church located at 7500 Main St., Kansas City, MO.
