Lance Raygor Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels - Hillside Chapel on Jan. 29, 2026.
Lance John Raygor,

age 84, after battling heart and kidney failure, was peacefully taken home on January 17, 2026.

Lance was born in Winona, MN on December 29, 1941, and raised in Saint Paul. After he graduated from Murray High in 1959, he joined the US Navy and later, after an honorable discharge, enlisted in the US Army. He was a proud service member and remained a devoted patriot until his passing.

Lance worked as a broadcast engineer for the U of M for 30 years. He had 3 children with his first wife Dona and 2 stepdaughters with his wife Marcy.

Lance lost his son Gary in 1982, and this loss was a grief he carried quietly; however, he credits this with shaping his personal faith and his love for Jesus. Lance's 4 daughters blessed him with 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Lance loved his family and held many cherished memories of family get-togethers with his many nieces and nephews, including many chaotic Thanksgiving dinners. Where his heart truly lay, however, was in music and singing for family, friends, his church, or anyone who would listen. We can rejoice that Lance is finally singing for his beloved Savior, at last in his heavenly home.

Lance is preceded in death by his parents Otha L. and Laura L. Raygor, son Gary, daughter Natalie, son-in-law Kent, son-in-law Rick, brother Virgil and sister-in-law Beverly, and sister Marilyn.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years Marcy, daughters Laurie and Brenda (Justin), stepdaughter Valarie, grandchildren Desiree, Crystal (Nick), Jon (Katie), Jared (Emily), Michael (Michelle), Kenzie (Eric), and Lexie, as well as his great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A service to honor Lance will take place at Washburn-McReavy Hillside Chapel, 2610 19th Ave NE, Minneapolis, on Friday, February 6, 2026, with visitation at 1:00 PM followed by a service at 2:00 PM.
