Lanelta Botkin Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 10, 2025.
Lanelta Jeannine Botkin, affectionately known as Sue by her friends and family, passed away with her daughter by her side on July 8, 2025, in San Angelo, Texas, at the age of 74. Sue was born on January 23, 1951, in Kermit, Texas, to Ruby Jewel Sanders and B.F. "Tuffy" Woodfin. Although she experienced the sorrow of saying goodbye to her parents and her brother Bill Woodfin, she shared an unbreakable bond with her siblings Steve Woodfin and Sandy Heath, always wishing she could spend more time with them. Steve and Bill's spouses, Mary and Pat, became vital parts of her extended family.
God blessed Sue with one daughter, Deann, and her husband, Bill Tullos. She adored her grandchildren, Britney Goolsby and her husband John, whose wedding was the highlight of her last few days on Earth; Bryce Cummings, whom she told everyone she met how smart, kind, and good-looking he is. Bonus grandchildren Rileigh Huff and her husband Kota, Rhyan Tullos, and Rhett Tullos. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Grady and Gemma Lawson. When she saw them, her eyes twinkled and she gained the biggest smile. She was excited to add Kaitlyn and Kameron Goolsby to the great-grandchildren crew. Additionally, she was blessed with nieces and nephews who were dear to her heart. She was the cool Aunt Sue.
Sue's professional life was marked by her adventurous spirit. She started her career as an office coordinator for Pool Well Service. Her work took her across Texas and Oklahoma, where she was instrumental in establishing new offices. Sue also spent several years as a barber, forging lasting friendships. However, her true calling came later in life when, in her forties, she returned to school to pursue her passion for caregiving, like her grandmother Mimi. After earning an Associate Degree in Nursing from Angelo State University, Sue dedicated herself to the nursing profession. She often called herself a "pillow fluffing nurse," reflecting her love for geriatrics and her caring nature. She took great pride in her daughter and granddaughter completing three generations of nurses.
Her interests ranged widely, with a particular love for spending time at the lake or watching a good movie. Yet, her greatest joy came from being with her family; her daughter and grandchildren were her world. Although she could not run it for long, Sue's home daycare was a testament to her love for children, where she cared for each child as if they were her own.
The family will be hosting a celebration of life in place of a traditional service on July 26th, 4pm at Deann's home. Sue Botkin's presence will be deeply missed. She earned her wings sooner than we wanted, but the memories she created and the love she shared will live forever in the hearts of her family and friends. "When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure." – Anonymous. Mom, I will miss you for the rest of my life, and I will always love you more
