LaPedra Dion Etherly was called home in the late-night hours of July 4th, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was raised by her mother Evelyn Ardis and her grandparents, James & Sattie Etherly in Rose Park, Utah. She attended Calvary Baptist Church with her family and was a student at West High School.

LaPedra was a homemaker and a wonderful cook, especially her baked macaroni. She passed on her love of reading books and listening to her old school R&B and rap. She especially loved her romance novels, Mariah Carey, and 90’s movies. She also enjoyed spending time writing, practicing calligraphy, preserving family photographs, and collecting mementos and treasures.

LaPedra is survived by her life partner, James Ivy. She was a loving mother of five and is survived by her children Jamillah Jackman, Jaleesa Salee, Edlow Etherly, Terrence Sharrer Jr, and Janessa Ivy. She had four grandchildren: Amani Jackman, Jaxon Gallegos, Julian Salee, and Theora Salee. As the only daughter, she is survived by her four brothers, James Wallace, Maurice Davis, Damion Rafal, and Abdule Rafal. As well as her Aunties, Sharon Thompson and Linda Kemp. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is welcomed eternally into the loving arms of her grandparents, Sattie and James, and her mother, Evelyn.

We love you more than ice cream on Christmas. We love you forever. All ways and all days.

A funeral service will be held at Redwood Memorial on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 3:15 p.m. A viewing will be held from 1:30 PM to 3 PM.

Nothing Gold Can Stay - Robert Frost

Nature’s first green is gold,

Her hardest hue to hold.

Her early leaf’s a flower;

But only so an hour.

Then leaf subsides to leaf.

So Eden sank to grief,

So dawn goes down today.

Nothing gold can stay.
