Lara Kay Cooley Smith, 27, of West Jordan, Utah, passed away unexpectedly on December 13, 2025. She was born on June 6, 1998, in Henderson, Nevada, to Scott and Tammy Cooley. Lara moved to Utah at the age of five and graduated from Copper Hills High School in West Jordan in 2016.
Lara’s greatest joy in life was being a mother to her children. From a young age, she knew she wanted to be a mom and had a natural gift for caring for children. She took pride in teaching them practical skills they could carry into adulthood. She is survived by her daughter, Jordyn Smith, who was the light of her life. Lara was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jameson Smith, whose memory she carried with her always.
Lara is also survived by her parents, Scott and Tammy Cooley; her siblings, Jayson, Cameron, Nathan, and Anna Cooley. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Barney Cooley.
Lara worked as a field representative for Monster Beverage Corporation, where she used her creativity to design and assemble custom beverage displays in gas stations. She cherished time outdoors—camping, fishing, paddleboarding, and gathering with family and friends by the lake. Lara had a passion for cooking and baking, sharing dishes and desserts with her loved ones.
Lara also had a deep appreciation for music and was gifted at playing the piano; she had a unique ability to learn songs by ear and memorize them with ease. She was known for her bold, sassy sense of humor. Her love, laughter, and nurturing spirit will live on through her daughter and in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be greatly missed!
