Darrell Gene Love, 72, died Saturday, December 28, 2024, in Ogden, Utah.
He was born November 13, 1952, in Ogden, Utah to Newell and Darthel Love. Darrell had five brothers and two sisters. He married his first wife and was blessed with two children, D. Gene and Joanna, they later divorced. He married Gaylene Lott Love on September 24, 2004, in Brigham City, Utah. They were later sealed in the Logan LDS Temple.
Darrell was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, holding many callings through the years. He served in the United States Air Force and then as a vocational agriculture teacher and FFA adviser. He taught at Copper Hills Highs School for 25 years. His beloved students referred to him as Dr. Love. He was a jack of all trades with landscaping, auto repair and small engine repair. He could repair or build just about anything.
He loved to go camping, hunting, fishing, gardening, scouting, collecting tools and being around livestock. He always had a special place in his heart for paint horses. He also loved to joke with anybody that he met. He loved being an educator and adored all the students that he taught.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Gaylene, Brigham City; his son; D. Gene (Lisa) Love, Clifton, Idaho; his daughter, Joanna Love, Richmond, Utah, and step-daughters Melanie (Terry) Wells, Willard, Utah and Shelisa York, Brigham City, Utah; his siblings, Dennis Love, Randy (Jackie) Love, Mary Jo Salmons and Dianne Dana Love; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Val, LaMar and Richard.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City 28th Ward Chapel, 531 North 100 West, Brigham City, UT. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and Brigham City Fire Department for taking such good care of Dad.
