It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of La’Renzo Shamar Murray, who left this world on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at the tender age of 22. La’Renzo was a bright light in the lives of all who knew him. He was known for his laid back demeanor, beautiful smile, and kind heart.
Born on June 9, 2003 in Muskegon, MI, La’Renzo grew up with a love for sports and began playing at just four years old. Anything that involved playing soccer, football, basketball, baseball, or track was right up his alley. Along with his love for sports, he loved playing video games. While he enjoyed playing video games plenty, he didn’t play about making his money. As soon as he was of legal age to work; he did! La’Renzo was always a hard worker. Even before graduating from North Central High School in 2021; he began working. From his first job at Shoe Carnival in 2019 to his most recent job as a sorter at UPS, La’Renzo’s work ethic was one to be admired. They say that a dog is a man’s best friend. La’Renzo was finding out how true that was, as he was very dedicated to training and caring for his four month old puppy, Rylo.
Beyond those things, Renzo was very much known for his laid back demeanor. While he was quiet and wouldn’t necessarily start a conversation; he could definitely hold one! His kind and respectful manner made it easy to love him. He was always willing to help out when someone needed a hand. While his time with us was short, Renzo’s impact was undeniable. All of the younger kids in the family really looked up to him. His legacy of love, kindness, and respect will continue. Those that knew him well could say that he was a joy to be around. Renzo will be dearly missed, but never forgotten. He will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
La’Renzo is survived by his loving parents, Lavonda Knox and Lorenzo Murray; siblings, Jakaiya Neal, Derrick Neal, Dav-Veon Cooper, Kaden White, Amani Means, Nyla Drayton, Elliot Murray, Cameron Jones; grandparents, Wayne Knox, Teresa (Robert) Dye, Paul Murray Sr., Mae Knox, Terry Jennings, and a host of beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends who will forever cherish the memories of their time together.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Wanda Jennings.
A celebration of La’Renzo’s life will be held on Saturday, August 30th, at Family Funeral Care at 3:00pm where family and friends are invited to share in honoring his memory.
