Obituary
Larry C. Ables, age 65, of Dayton went home to be with the Lord June 17, 2023 at Kettering Medical Center. He was born July 5, 1957 in Dayton, the son of the late Donald and Marjorie (Brown) Ables. Larry served the Dayton Fire Department for over 33 years, retiring as a Captain. After leaving the fire service Larry served as the Program Director of the Fire Science Academy at Sinclair Community College until his death. He was a member of the Miami Valley Antique Fire Apparatus Association and was the Dayton Fire Dept. historian. He loved collecting fire memorabilia, going to fire musters with his wife, having barbecues with his family, and watching Looney Tunes with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda; three children, Lisa (Martin) Colon, Christopher (Amanda) Ables, and Laura Ables; six grandchildren, Christopher Colon, Daniel Colon, Ruthanne Colon, Emma Ables, Samuel Ables, and William Ables; two sisters, Debbie (Rick) Crump and Donna (Jimmy) Wilson; two brothers, Jeff (Tammy) Ables and Charlie (Jamie) Ables; as well as extended family and many friends. The visitation will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. and the funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 27, 2023 at 11:00 A.M., both at Fairhaven Church, 637 E. Whipp Rd. in Centerville. Pastor Tim Winton officiating. Burial will follow at Dayton Memorial Park. Arrangements in care of Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, Fairborn.
