Larry Adams Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Larry James Adams, who left us peacefully on the morning of August 10, 2025, one day shy of his 75th birthday. Confidently knowing family and friends dearly loved him, Larry departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of boldness, laughter and unwavering love.

Born on August 11, 1950 in Corpus Christi, Texas, Larry was the first child of Lena Faye (Gent) and Frank Adams. From an early age, it was clear that he possessed a generous heart and an instinctual talent for commanding a room and telling a (mostly true) story.

Larry was a graduate of King High School in Corpus Christi, and upon his graduation, began a lifetime of steadfast devotion to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, from which he graduated in 1972. During his time in Lubbock, Larry was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, where a lifelong friend described him as having "… more grit and determination than any of his peers…" and "more force and bluster than anyone I've ever known,". After graduating from Tech, Larry went on to graduate in 1976 from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas.

Although a career practicing law was certainly an area of accomplishment, it was obvious in the pride he exuded when he spoke of his sons that being their dad was truly the greatest joy of his life. Whilst traveling with the Corpus Christi Raiders baseball team, pushing the lawnmower with his two youngest boys or watching tennis matches and football games from the stands, Larry was at his best cheering on Steven, David, Alan and Jack. He loved his sons well, and this love and pride carried over into his role as Grandpa Larry later in life.

To those who knew Larry, he was more than just man. He was a source of unconditional support, bold wisdom and warmth. Larry is survived by his sons: Steven Adams of Round Rock, TX, David (Staci) Adams of McKinney, TX, Alan (Jessica) Adams of Mendham, NJ, and Jack (Aiden) Adams of Corpus Christi TX, his grandchildren: Carter Adams, Ellie Adams, Bishop Adams, Sidney Adams and Alexis Adams and his sister, Sandra Adams. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lena Faye and Frank Adams and his grandparents: Lucille and Joyce Adams and Lena Ivy and James A. Gent. Their memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved them.

A celebration of Larry's life will be held at 10:00 on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at All Saints Episcopal Church in Corpus Christi, Texas, with family and friends invited to gather, share memories, and honor a life so beautifully lived. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Larry and his love for the Red Raiders of Texas Tech University.
