Larry Bonzoumet was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and spent his childhood moving from place to place for his father's work. After spending time in Panama and Las Vegas, Nevada, his family finally settled in
Riverside, California. He attended Chemawa Junior High School, where he quickly formed lasting friendships through his love of basketball - a passion that came to define much of his life. Ask any of his friends, and they'll tell you there wasn't a gym in Riverside they couldn't find a way into for just a little more court time.
Larry became a Hall of Fame basketball player at Ramona High School and went on to play for Coach Jerry Tarkanian at Riverside City College. He completed his college career at North Texas State University in Denton, Texas - but not before making an impression that coaches would talk about for years. Known as "Bombs Away Bonzoumet," Larry was even mentioned by Coach Tarkanian in his autobiography, a testament to his talent and presence on the court.
Larry married his high school sweetheart, Pamela. Theirs was a love story built from the ground up - from devoted, humble beginnings to a comfortable and well-earned life filled with memorable adventures. Married for 56 years, they created a home defined by love, laughter, loyalty, and true friendships. Larry was the proud father of two and the adoring grandfather of four, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to his life. Larry was often the life of any
gathering - known for his quick wit, charm, and knack for elevating every moment. He appreciated the finer things in life: good friends, a well-made car, an exceptional meal, a "proper martini," and a good cigar.
Larry was a wise and respected businessman. An entrepreneur at heart, he co-founded Paper Solutions, Ink, a packaging design company whose growth and success led him and his partners to launch Clean Cut Technologies - a business that would set new benchmarks in medical device packaging. The success of these ventures ultimately afforded Larry a comfortable and fulfilling retirement with his sweetheart.
In his adult life, Larry found some of his greatest joys in golf, travel, and the simple thrill of sharing an adventure with the people he loved. With Pam by his side, he poured his heart into creating moments that would become treasured memories - whether it was a legendary golf trip with close friends, a spontaneous road escape just for the fun of it, or a carefully planned family vacation with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Their travels took them from road trips through the U.S. and Canada to the vineyards of Napa and Paso Robles, and to breathtaking golf destinations in Scotland, Jamaica, and beyond. Larry had a rare gift for turning an ordinary trip into something extraordinary. He made every journey feel special, and those who shared those experiences with him still speak of them with deep affection and gratitude.
One of his most unforgettable adventures grew from a Make-A-Wish Foundation fundraiser, where eight lucky golfers boarded a private jet for a once-in-a-lifetime tour - LA Country Club, Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, and Cypress Point. It was the kind of magical, larger-than-life experience that seemed to follow Larry wherever he went.
And in true Larry fashion, he even planned his own celebration of life - a final act of love and intention from a man who never stopped caring about the people around him.
Larry passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel and Gladys; his brother, Robert; and his sisters, Annette and Susan. He is survived by his loving wife, Pam; his daughter, Kelli Wasserman (Jody); grandsons, Jack and Lucas; his son, Brandon Bonzoumet (Nikki); granddaughter, Grace; grandson, Sam; his brother, Christophe Bonzoumet; and his adored dog, Bojangles.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Larry's home at a later date.
