Larry Burdick, age 77 went to be with the Lord on September 8, 2024. Larry was born December 20, 1946 to Don and Rose Borton and was adopted by Earl and Louise Burdick.
Larry joined the Army in 1966 and was a Military Policeman and dog handler. After his discharge, Larry served as a Springfield Police Officer. Later he took a roads and grounds position at the Federal Center for where he spent over 40 years until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, flying drones, and ham radio. Larry would follow the weather and airplane flights. He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved nature and wildlife as you can see in his photos.
Larry was preceded in death by a daughter Nellie Hess, a grandson Johnathon Hess and sisters; Linda Thompson and Carol Stamm. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kathy, his daughters Mary (Charlie) Connors, Michelle (Steve) Burdick/Benninghoff, Denice (Tom) Wilder, Debbie (Brian) Drayton/Casterline. Grandkids; RJ, Lacey Wiggins, Alex, Joy Connors, Cierra Casterline, and Helen Benninghoff and a great Grandson; Legend Hess. His brothers Ross (Lois) Borton, Steve (Marcia) Borton, Louis (Kathy) Guernsey, Bruce Burdick, his sisters Judy (Bob) Landes, Sharon (David) Slocum, Sharon Verhest, Linda Ferris and several nieces and nephews.
Larry was well liked by everyone that knew him. He was faithful in the Lord Jesus. Larry will be remembered for his quiet and reserved demeaner; he led a humble life and demonstrated compassion through his journey. He will be deeply missed by all.
Larry's family will receive friends on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 12:00-1:00 PM at Hickory Corners Bible Church where his funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM. Burial with military honors will take place at East Hickory Corners Cemetery. Those who wish to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the needs of the family.
