Larry Wayne Cameron

Larry Wayne Cameron, 75, loving husband of Ruby Reason Cameron, passed away on January 6, 2026, at his home in Florence, South Carolina.

A son of the late John Garris Cameron and Ruth Bullard Cameron Altman, Larry was born on May 12, 1950, in Georgetown, South Carolina. He lived a life marked by dedication to family, friendship, and community.

Larry began his professional journey after being recruited from college by the owner of Clanton Auto Auction. His strong work ethic and commitment led him to climb the corporate ladder over many years with the company. After his tenure at Clanton Auto Auction, he continued to share his expertise by working part-time with Charleston Auctioneers before retiring fully.

A man deeply rooted in faith and fellowship, Larry was a lifelong member of Nebo Baptist Church in Brittons Neck. In later years, as health challenges made travel more difficult for him and his wife, he attended Greenwood Baptist Church in Florence. His spiritual life remained an important cornerstone throughout his years.

Larry was known for his easy-going nature and love of good company. He cherished time spent with friends and neighbors and found joy in entertaining others. A talented cook and gracious host, he often brought people together around food and laughter. He had a special fondness for the lake-fishing and boating were among his favorite pastimes.

Family was central to Larry's life. He was affectionately known as a "mama's boy," a term that reflected not only his deep love for his mother but also the warmth and loyalty he extended to all those close to him. He held dear the time spent with loved ones and took pride in being present for family gatherings.

Larry was also a proud Master Mason and a member of the Omar Shriners, organizations that reflected his values of service and brotherhood.

Along with his cherished wife, Larry is survived by his brother Louie (Hazel) Cameron; sisters Lynn (Billy) Scott and Lisa (Darrell) Moody; extended family members Geri Hatchell, Edward (Gail) Reason, and Gail Huggins; nieces Tracy (Nick) Lefebvre, Alyson (Bradley) Weston, Amy (Darmon) Weaver, Christy (Teddy) Salters, Missy (John) Farmer; nephews Eddie Cameron, Glen (Cindy) Pace, Kenneth (Angel) Huggins, Scott (Angie) Reason; as well as numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his son Larry Wayne Cameron Jr. and his brother Lyle Cameron

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Nebo Baptist Church, 6411 SC 908, Brittons Neck, South Carolina, 29546. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will take place in the Church cemetery immediately following the funeral.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 8, 2026 in the Morris Funeral Home Chapel located at 416 N Main Street, Hemingway, South Carolina, 29554.
