A Life Well Lived

Surrounded by his loved ones, Larry H. Christy (83) of Ohio Township passed away peacefully on Friday, June 27, 2025 at UPMC Passavant Hospital following complications during a long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Larry was born on September 10, 1941 to Harold Christy and Mildred Beneman, and is survived by his siblings, Carole and Bob. Larry graduated from Avonworth High School in the class of 1959 and he began his career in 1960 at Elwin G. Smith General Contracting, until joining his uncle at Brubach Plumbing in 1968 as a journeyman plumber. In 1983, he founded Christy Plumbing in Ross Township, growing it into a successful business that continues to service the Pittsburgh community today. After selling the company in March 2004, he continued working part-time until 2025 when health issues required him to step back.

In 1983, Larry married the love of his life, Lynda Christy (Beighey), and together, they blended their families of six children-Larry Jr., Jeffrey, and Michael; and Brian, Christopher, and Angel. He is survived by 10 grandchildren- Christy, Sarah, Chloe, Miranda, Tyler, Cody, Josh, Emma, Katie, and Ryan; and 3 Great-Grandchildren- Summer, Cormack and Bobby.

Larry absolutely loved the outdoors and spent many weekends at his family cottage in East Brady. He would enjoy boating, fishing, building fires by the river's edge and spending quality time with his loving wife and family. He was also a passionate sports fan and held season tickets for the Pittsburgh Steelers at both Three Rivers Stadium and Heinz Field. A dedicated golfer, he played for decades in the Clover Hill Golf League.

A man of deep Christian faith, Larry was a long-standing member of New Community Church, where he enjoyed participating in group bible studies. He was admired for his good character, integrity, reliability, and hearty laugh.

Larry faced his cancer diagnosis in 2022 with remarkable strength. Through the many difficulties, he never complained and was an inspiration to those around him. He exhibited such positivity, resilience, and indescribable strength, which perfectly describes his character.

Larry loved his family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. All family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Simons Funeral Home, 7720 Perry Hwy, Pittsburgh, PA 15237 on Tuesday, July 1 from 5 - 8 p.m. or Wednesday, July 2 from 2 - 4 pm and 6 pm - 8 pm.

A memorial service will be held at New Community Church, 3100 Wexford Rd, Wexford, PA 15090 on Thursday at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to New Community Church, in Larry's memory, will be greatly appreciated.
