Larry Cody Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by West Funeral Home & Life Tribute Center - West Fargo on Jul. 25, 2024.
Larry Edward Cody passed away on July 24, 2024, at Essentia Hospital due to complications from cancer.
Larry Edward Cody was born May 17, 1950, in Carrington to Paul and Alice (Briss) Cody. He attended one of the last one room schoolhouses in Foster County, later attending Carrington schools. He graduated from Carrington High School in 1968. Larry went on to obtain a degree at Valley City State College. He worked for Kmart in Kansas and Alabama, later moving to Williston, North Dakota where he worked for Dowell. While in Williston he met his life love, Charlene Anderson. They were married in Redfield, South Dakota on June 20, 1987. Larry and Charlene just celebrated their 37th anniversary. In 1986, they moved to Fargo and in 1989 they welcomed their son Adam into the family.
Growing up on a farm near Carrington, he knew the meaning of hard work as well as kindness and caring for others. All of those traits bode him well throughout his life. Larry was there to help when someone needed it and, more times than not, put others first. His friendships and family were important to him. One of those many special friendships is Tom and Kathy Homsey. Spending time with Larry, he often tested your knowledge as he was an avid reader though out his life. His sense of humor was always a delight no matter who he was directing it towards. However, a good pinochle game was always a must whenever friends and family gathered. Charlene once said in order to be a Cody you had to learn to play pinochle.
Larry is survived by his wife, Charlene and son, Adam, West Fargo; sister, Marlene Young, Minot; brothers: Ken Cody, Henderson, NV, Bill (Iris) Cody, West Fargo and Dr. Dale (Penny) Cody, Plymouth MN; brother-in-law Morris (Barbara) Anderson, Cedar Rapids, IA; as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Preceding him are his parents, Paul and Alice Cody, brother Ron Cody, brother-in-law Raymond Young, father- and mother-in-law Harold and Amy Anderson.
Charlene and Adam, as well as the extended Cody family, send their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Essentia for the wonderful care they gave Larry during his recent and previous hospital stays.
Visitation: Saturday, July 27, 2024 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.
Memorial Service: Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 2:00 PM at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.
Following the service, a celebration of Larry's life will be held at Bill Cody's home: 3834 Willow Road, West Fargo. Lunch will be served,
and all are welcome. Please stop by and share your stories with Charlene, Adam and the family.
