Larry Cornett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Dec. 29, 2025.
Cornett, Larry M., age 75, of Dayton, passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2025, at Kettering Medical Center.

Larry was born on July 24, 1950. He was a 1968 graduate of Waynesville High School. He later attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where he earned a Bachelor of Professional Aeronautics in 1980, graduating magna cum laude in Aeronautical Engineering.

Larry proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. He attained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3 and served as a helicopter pilot. During his military career, he flew the OH-55, OH-58, and UH-1 Huey aircraft. Before he retired from the Army, he piloted Cobra helicopters, a role that reflected his advanced skill and dedication. Following his military service, Larry worked in the information technology field. He retired for the second time from Cincinnati Bell in 2013, where he served as an IT Applications Manager.

Throughout his life, Larry was deeply involved in fraternal and service organizations, which his father-in-law influenced. He was a proud member of Waynesville American Legion Post 615 and Disabled American Veterans. Larry was a life member of Waynesville Masonic Lodge #163, where he served as a Past Master. He was very devoted and dedicated to the masonic cause. He was very proud of working with his son in the Masons. His additional affiliations included the Miami Chapter #107 Order of the Eastern Star, the AASR Valley of Dayton Scottish Rite, and the Antioch Shrine Dayton, where he served as a photographer and as Emeritus Director. Larry was also a past president of the Warren County Shrine Club and held membership in the Past Masters Club, Gun Club, Hillbillies, Royal Order of Jesters Court 10, Ormos Grotto, Lebanon Chapter #5 York Rite, Ancient Masters Council #200 York Rite, Miami Commandery #22 York Rite, Irish Council #67 Knight Masons, and the Association for Research and Enlightenment. When younger, Larry always enjoyed hunting, especially for pheasant and quail. Larry and his wife, Theresa, always enjoyed traveling in their motorcoach. Their favorite places to travel were anywhere warm, with one of their happiest memories being in the Gulf. He was extremely proud of his family, especially his wife and children. Among many things, Larry will be remembered for his honorable military service, his dedication to his community through the Masons, and his lifelong commitment to his family.

Larry was preceded in death by his son, Larry B. Cornett. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Theresa; his daughter, Tonya (Jeff) Everhart; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A celebration of life service will be in the spring and will be announced at a later date. Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville is serving the family. If desired, contributions may be made to Antioch Shrine or The Spring Valley Senior Center. Online condolences may be expressed at https://www.stubbsconner.com.

For more than 40 years, Larry served in the role of my most favorite big brother.

He and Theresa are our truest, most dearly loved, lifelong friends, and the loss of Larry has been a pretty hard blow.

Theresa, we are holding you, and all of your/our family, in our hearts, as well as our prayers. Larry is, and forever will be, so deeply missed...
