Larry Donnell Cornish, a man whose laughter and kindness touched the lives of everyone he met, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025, in
Odessa, Texas. Born on January 25, 1950, in Mount Calm, Texas, Larry's journey through life was marked by an unwavering commitment to his family, his faith, and his community.
Larry's love story began in the pews of a church in Mount Calm, where he met the love of his life, Beverly (Crain). Their young love blossomed quickly, leading to their marriage on August 12, 1972. Together, they embarked on a life filled with joy, challenges, and triumphs. In 1973, Larry and Beverly moved to
Odessa, Texas, where they nurtured their growing family and built a life rich in love and laughter.
A devoted husband and father, Larry's heart was as expansive as the Texas sky. He welcomed with open arms those who needed care, treating friends and strangers alike as family. His home was a haven for many, and his presence was a source of comfort and joy. A jokester at heart, Larry could light up any room with his humor and infectious smile.
Larry's talents were as varied as they were impressive. He was a gifted singer, whose voice could command attention and stir emotions. His love for dancing, playing dominos, and singing were eclipsed only by his dedication to his family and his faith. A longtime member of St. James Missionary Church, Larry's faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and inspiring those around him.
Professionally, Larry dedicated over two decades to working as a pipeline worker in the oil field, a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his loved ones. Following his retirement from the oil field, he continued to serve his community through his work as a maintenance mechanic for the Ector County Independent School District (ECISD).
Larry's love for sports and staying active was evident to all who knew him. His athletic prowess was a source of pride and enjoyment throughout his life, and he was always ready for a friendly game or competition. A strong lover and protector, Larry was quick to stand up for his family, embodying the very essence of a patriarch.
