Larry Gene Cox, age 77, of Asheboro died Sunday, August 15, 2021. Mr. Cox was born June 21, 1944 in Randolph County to Kenneth and Mary Cox. Mr. Cox was an Army veteran and was retired from the textile industry. He was an avid NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Richard Petty. Mr. Cox also enjoyed watching the Carolina Panthers who was his favorite team and his last hobby was dredging for gold. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Coble Cox; daughter, Tammy Hyler and husband Stevie of Asheboro; son, Lee Edward Cox of Asheboro; grandchildren, Jasmine Leigh Cox, James Michael Hyler, Stephen Patrick Hyler, Alexandria Alexis Hyler, Jacob Colt Hyler; great-grandson, Jaydon Trey Hyler; sister, Norma Busick of VA; brothers, Bruce Cox of Burlington, Charles Cox of Thomasville The family will receive friends Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 11:00-1:45 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Tommy Kidd officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Community Home Care & Hospice, 533 S. Fayetteville St., Asheboro, NC 27203
