Larry Samuel Creel, Sr., age 84, of Chula, Georgia, passed away on July 22, 2025, at Phoebe Medical Center in Albany, Georgia. Born on January 8, 1941, in Tift County, Georgia, he lived a life full of passion, dedication, and love for his family.
Larry enjoyed a notable career with the U.S. Postal Service, proudly serving the community for twenty-five years before retiring. He was not only committed to his work but also devoted to his personal interests outside of it. With great enthusiasm, Larry engaged in deer hunting and gardening, relishing the time spent cultivating vegetables and riding his tractor. He found joy and fulfillment in being outdoors, where he remained busy with activities that brought him happiness.
A graduate of Colquitt County High School, Larry maintained a strong connection to his roots, which was reflected in his values and the friendships he treasured. His faith played an important role in his life as a member of Waterloo Baptist Church.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Martha Jean Clark Creel; his son, Larry Creel, Jr. and his wife Irma; his daughter, Lisi Dawn Knotts and her husband Kyp; and his cherished grandchildren, Amber Marie Creel, Alyssa Jean Creel, Cody Samuel Creel, Justin Michael and Lauren Knotts, and Jordan Alexandria Knotts. He is also survived by three sisters, June Meadows, Reginia Patterson, and Faye Creel.
Larry was predeceased by his father, Cornelius Abson Creel; his mother, Nellie Hughes Creel; his four brothers, James Hughes Creel, Michael Julian Creel, William David Creel, and Johnnie Eugene Creel; as well as one sister, Reba Ardella Creel Nelms.
A graveside service to honor his life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Waterloo Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Jeff Pangle officiating. The family will receive friends and family after the service at the graveside.
Larry Samuel Creel leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and commitment to his family and community. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
