Larry Dean Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Maupin Funeral Home - Fulton on Jan. 13, 2026.
Larry Loren Dean, 81, of Fulton, Missouri, passed away on January 12, 2026, at Riverview Nursing Facility.
Larry was born on January 7, 1945, in Harrah, Oklahoma, to the late Dallas Verl Dean and Lydia Thelma West.
For nearly 30 years, Larry shared his life with his partner, Patricia Doerhoff Jennings. Together, they built a home filled with care, laughter, and companionship. Larry was also a proud father to three sons-Daren Dean (Cassie) of Jefferson City, Travis Dean Sr. (Kristen) of Fulton, and Justin Dean (Ashlea) of Fulton-and a grandfather to seven grandchildren who will carry his legacy forward.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1963 to 1966, serving in South Korea during the Vietnam era. During his military service, he earned the distinction of marksman. He returned home with the discipline and strength that would fuel his many endeavors.
An entrepreneur at heart, Larry was known for his strong work ethic and business sense. He owned and operated Callaway Furniture Store, which became the first business in Fulton to sell trampolines. He also owned Outback Fun Center at Lake of the Ozarks, offering go-karts, miniature golf, and batting cages. Later in life, he owned Dean's Handyman Services and continued flipping houses until his retirement.
Beyond his work, Larry loved woodworking, tinkering, and lending a hand to anyone who needed it. He was known for his resourcefulness and his ability to turn an idea into something real. His hardworking nature was matched only by his love for his family, who were always at the center of his life.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Verl Dean and Lydia Thelma West, and his siblings Wayne Dean, Stanley Dean, Donald Dean, Maxine Wolfmeier, and Juanita Benskin.
Funeral services will be held at Maupin Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at 12:00 pm with Pastor Mike Crowson officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Callaway Memorial Gardens with full Military Honors
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Caring Hearts and Hands, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Blvd, Fulton, MO 65251.
