Larry R. Deck

Larry Ray Deck, 70, of Richland, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the Richland Race Street House.
Born in Lebanon on June 29, 1954, he was the beloved son of Clyde E. and Marian L. Shelly Deck. Larry was the loving brother of Gary N. Deck, Sr., of Lebanon, Susan L. (Kenneth) Smith of Myerstown, Robert A. (Betty) Deck of Myerstown and Carol D. Konski (Dr. Andre Konski) of Fort Washington, PA, along with many nieces and nephew and great nieces and nephew.
Larry grew up on the family farm. He enjoyed playing the trombone, Ham Radio operations, Boy Scouts, as well as model airplanes and rocketry. He attended both the Eastern Lebanon County High School and the Massanutten Military Academy in Virginia. At the age of 17, he was in a tragic car accident and became a quadriplegic. His parents cared for him for many years, along with numerous other caregivers throughout the years. Larry was a long-time member of the Zion United Methodist Church in Myerstown and later joined the Elm Street Mennonite Church in Lebanon. The Elm Street Mennonite Church provided a home where he lived the past eight years: Race Street House in Richland. The church and caregivers provided loving and caring support for Larry up until the time of his death.
Larry's legacy of loving the Lord and positivity will live on in the hearts of all that knew him. Through God's grace he was inspirational to many people through his testimony entitled, "Choices Have Consequences." He will be deeply missed by all but never forgotten.
There will be a viewing from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday evening, August 5, 2024, at the Fairview Reception Center, 141 Jackson Rd., Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, August 6, 2024, at the Fairview Reception Center. A private family burial will be held immediately following the services at the Myerstown Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elm Street Mennonite Church, 719 East Lincoln Ave., Myerstown, PA 17067, and post in the memo: Race Street House.
