God welcomed his servant Larry Dixon to his eternal home on October 31, 2025. He passed peacefully after a pleasant day spent visiting his wife at Jackson Villas, neighbor and daughter.

He was born on the Seabaugh family farm in Sedgewickville, Missouri, on February 27, 1942, to Grant and Sadie (Seabaugh) Dixon.

Larry met the love of his life, Clara Mae Amelunke while working at the Jackson Hosiery Mill. They were married on November 16, 1963, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit. He still carried her high school picture in his wallet and made sure she had fresh flowers to enjoy.

Larry served in the Company B, 1st Battalion 140th Infantry Army National Guard as a SP4 E-4 Specialist 4th Class from 1960 to 1968.

Larry was a carpenter for many years and could build or fix just about anything. He built and remodeled many homes in the area. He worked maintenance at Jackson Manor prior to his years at Jackson R2 School District, from which he retired in 2005.

Larry purchased the family farm in 1992 after his father passed. His mother Sadie was born on this farm in 1905, and it was very important to him to keep the farm with the family. He recently gifted to his daughter to continue his legacy for future generations. He enjoyed daily visits to his cattle farm during retirement years, as well as gardening and spoiling grandchildren.

Larry was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. He was a strong man of faith who prioritized God and family. He dedicated his life to his loving wife and family; and enjoyed social visits with special neighbors.

Larry is survived by his wife of nearly 62 years, Clara Dixon, their only daughter, Teresa Birk, and two grandchildren Austin and Hope Birk, and great-grandchildren, Leiloni Wyatt and Austin Jared Birk, all of Jackson; a sister, Ora Dean Bennett of Farmington, Missouri; many special neighbors who visited often and brought great joy to his life, including Lawrence and Doris; Doug and Carol; and Damon and Becky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother J.R. Dixon; sisters, Laura Jean Hall and Patsy Sharrock; and his grandson Jared Ryan Birk.

Visitation is from 12 p.m. to service time, Monday, November 3, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Randy Fuller will conduct the funeral service at 2 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery, next to his parents and grandson Jared.

If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests St. Paul Lutheran Church or Heart for Africa.
